My first… attempt at Aunt Sherri’s WORLD FAMOUS MEATBALLS

Do you have a favorite family dish? One that the moment it’s scent hits your nostrils you get warm fuzzy’s all over? I do, and it is my Aunt Sherri’s world famous meatballs. Without fail each time I head back to my dad’s hometown of Clyde my aunt whips up the best meatballs you have ever tasted in your life!! A few years ago I asked for the recipe but it wasn’t until last night that I gave it a go on my own!

Everything you'll need!

Begin by placing hamburger in a large mixing bowl and add evaporated milk

13 oz. can evaporated milk

Add oatmeal

2 cups cooking oats

Next up, eggs!

2 large eggs

Time for the onion…

1 cup chopped white onion

Don’t sneeze, add pepper!

1/2 teaspoon of black pepper

Next on deck, garlic. You can never have too much!

2 teaspoons garlic

Kick it up a notch with some hot chili powder

2 teaspoons chili powder

and last but not least, salt

2 teaspoons salt

Use your hands to combine all ingredients evenly throughout

Mix thoroughly

Once mixed roll mixture into balls

About golf ball size

And place into baking pans

No need to grease pans

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees!

Time to make the sauce, in a large pitcher combine the following:

2 cups ketchup

2 tablespoons liquid smoke

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 cup chopped onion

1 1/2 cups packed brown sugar

With a whisk, mix until smooth

There will still be chopped onions but otherwise smooth

Carefully pour the sauce mixture over the meatballs

Already starting to drool

Use a basting brush to spread evenly

Once the meatball have been “sauced” bake uncovered for 1 hour at 350 degrees. Even though your entire house will begin to smell like meatball deliciousness try to avoid opening the oven while baking.

After the time is up, remove and ENJOY!!!

This was the perfect dish to take to my friend Ashley and Nate’s Sunday Night Football gathering; no leftovers so I think Aunt Sherri would be proud!!! This was the first but won’t be the last time I make these incredible meatballs!
